Fish2fork widgets
When it comes to seafood, your choices can make a big difference. To help you make the right choice we have included a ‘widget’ which will allow you to quickly check whether the species of fish you are thinking of eating is threatened or endangered. It offers advice on which fish species are safe to eat and which fish species it would be best to avoid in order to preserve the fish population.

This initiative brings together the work of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), SeaWeb’s Seafood Choices Alliance and Sustain. The range of tools and activities presented through Good Catch provide clear, consistent information and practical support and training, specifically designed to help restaurants and related businesses improve the sustainability of the seafood they buy, serve and promote.

Seafood Watch
The Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA) Seafood Watch program helps consumers and businesses make choices for healthy oceans. Their recommendations indicate which seafood items are “Best Choices,” “Good Alternatives,” and which ones you should “Avoid.”
Seafood Watch raises consumer awareness through pocket guides, website, mobile applications and outreach efforts and encourages restaurants, distributors and seafood purveyors to purchase from sustainable sources. It is designed to help sustain wild, diverse and healthy ocean ecosystems that will exist long into the future.
Since 1999 millions of pocket guides have been distributed and the iPhone application has been downloaded more than 70,000 times.
Seafood Watch recommendations are science-based, peer reviewed, and use ecosystem-based criteria. When there is scientific uncertainty it errs on the side of conservation.
