The Barbican Fish Bar is classic fish and chipsville. Cod is probably the top choice, but there is also plaice, scampi, fishcakes and the fresh fish of the day. The busy, family-friendly takeaway and sit-down also serves pies, pasties, sausages, burgers and chicken: the common denominator is chips. There are chips with everything including traditional servings of curry sauce or gravy.
Prices are reasonable: main course servings average around £6.00, there is a children’s menu (with chips) for £3.90, and a senior citizen special for £4.80. The diet conscious are not forgotten with some salads such as mixed seafood or prawns in Marie Rose Sauce, but you could probably sneak a few chips in alongside.
