What we say

A much-praised family-run restaurant where all concerned are working hard to establish and consolidate its reputation. We did ask the restaurant to complete our questionnaire which would have given us a much better insight into the restaurant's sourcing policies but the owners did not do so. Great care goes into the sourcing of the seafood and produce, the restaurant's website tells us, from local suppliers and there are numerous examples such as Lyme Bay brill, and Brixham scallops. But we get no information about capture methods. Brill, tiger prawns and turbot appear on the menu but are the tiger prawns organically farmed and how are the turbot and brill caught? The online menu doesn't tell us. We suspect Les Saveurs could easily win a much better score but until customers are given more information we can only offer the restaurant 1 red fish.

What they say

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded an AA Rosette for our 'œculinary excellence' . We are very proud to have been awarded this accolade as it was our aim to put Exmouth on the culinary map and this is certainly a step in the right direction.

About Les Saveurs at the Seafood Restaurant

A cosy and elegant restaurant in Exmouth which is run by Olivier and Sheila Guyard-mulkerrin with the help of their sons Patrick and Sean. They took over the restaurant in August 2007 and offer a menu focusing mainly on locally-sourced seafood but with some meat alternatives. The restaurant has been awarded an AA Rosette.

Olivier trained at Michelin starred restaurants in France and ran the kitchens at several venues in Devon before purchasing Les Saveurs (Flavours). He makes a point of searching out local suppliers of fish and other produce with the menu changing seasonally as different fish and vegetables become available.

The town centre restaurant is much praised by visitors who remark on the quality of the food and its reasonable prices. "Michelin-standard", "hidden gem" and "simple seafood beautifully cooked" are some of the comments.

Two fish courses: about £23.
